Client: GE Verona
Location: Rugby, United Kingdom
Contract Value: £370,000.00
Scope: Full BMS Upgrade for Ambirad Heating
Overview
GE Electric in Rugby required a comprehensive upgrade to its outdated Building Management System (BMS) controlling the site’s gas-fired Ambirad heating units. The legacy system had become obsolete, posing operational and efficiency risks. The objective was to enhance control, improve energy efficiency and ensure long-term reliability without disrupting day-to-day operations.
Project Execution:
The project involved the full replacement of the existing BMS infrastructure across the site. Key components of the upgrade included:
- Installation of a new BACnet-based network architecture
- Deployment of 58 custom-built small control enclosures
- Seamless integration within a fully operational factory environment
All works were meticulously planned and phased to minimise disruption, with coordination between on-site teams ensuring safety and continuity of production throughout the upgrade process.
Outcome:
The new system provided GE with a modern, flexible and scalable BMS, greatly improving control over heating systems and enabling more precise energy management. The successful delivery of the project within the £370,000 budget reinforced the company’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.
